PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND TEACHERS' FEDERATION SCHOLARSHIPS
 

AMOUNT:              Two scholarships valued at $1,500. each.

ELIGIBILITY:         The scholarships shall be awarded in accordance with the
                             following:

A. Students are eligible if they are
    dependents of PEITF members, retired
    members, deceased members, or
    former members who accumulated a
    minimum of ten (10) years service,
    the last 5 of which were on Prince
    Edward Island.

B. One scholarship shall be awarded to a
    student attending an accredited
    university and who is registered for the
    student's final year of study.

C. One scholarship shall be awarded to a
    student attending an accredited
    community college or equivalent
    post-secondary institution and who is
    registered for the student's final year of
    study.

D. In the event there are no suitable
    applicants for one of the scholarships,
    the selection committee may select two
    recipients for the scholarship for which
    there are applicants.

METHOD OF
SELECTION:       
 A committee selected by the Executive of the P.E.I.
                            Teachers' Federation shall determine the recipients of
                             the scholarships each year.

CRITERIA:            a) Scholastic attainment in the previous two years of study;

        b) Demonstrated leadership abilities; and,

        c) Recommendation of the school authority (Dean,
            Department Head, Principal, teacher, etc.) from
            the institution attended by the applicant prior to
            the applicant's last year of study.

CENTENNIAL SCHOLARSHIPS

Each year the Prince Edward Island Teachers' Federation awards three scholarships, in the amount of $1,500 each to teachers who are returning for a full year of study.

TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR THE SCHOLARSHIPS, THE TEACHERS MUST:

1. be a member of the Prince Edward Island Teachers'
    Federation;
2. be undertaking a full year of study;
3. have at least three years teaching experience on
    Prince Edward Island;
4. undertake to teach on P.E.I. for two years following
    study under this scholarship.
